Healthy eating for sugar control


A healthy eating plan for those that have diabetes is not different from those without diabetes.
According to the American Diabetes Association recommended for the public a diet centered on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and low-fat product provide more nutrition per calorie than refined carbohydrates and tend to be rich fibre.

Our body digests high-fibre foods slowly which means a rise in blood sugar. People with diabetes should account for around 45% to 55% of the total calories each day.
Choose your carbohydrates wisely and avoid highly carbohydrates such as white bread, pasta, sweets and soft drinks.

We have two types of Fiber
insoluble fibre and soluble fibre, Insoluble Fiber can be found in beans, whole grains, peas, oats, fruit and Soluble fibre appears to lower blood sugar levels, improving insulin which leads to less diabetes medication.

In conclusion, eating a lot of fibre reduces the chance of developing heart disease and people with diabetes need to lower their risk.
